Hey guys, i have been watching for a while but havent posted in a long time.

Just wondering if any of you know anything about this apparently special built 99 D110 diesel in Nashville.

Also if one to was to buy that how hard would it be to install the External cage?

That's interesting: "It spent 7 months being certified by the U.S. department of transportation and this vehicle has a U.S. title and is 50 state legal."
No mention of the EPA, but at least, it seems to have passed the DOT certification? Without roll-cage? Land Rover did not do a good job a few years ago! ;-)
Price is high though.....

Putting an NAS cage on would most likely cost about $5000. Getting it approved for DOT and EPA would be very expensive .

The auction states that it's already DOT approved?
It is probably worth it to ask for the DOT sticker picture to verify that.

You can also email the DOT to ask whether the petition for DOT approval was received, accepted and processed for this truck. Just need the vin.

When you get a vehicle back from an importer, they supply you with Memorandums of release from the DOT and EPA, so a seller should have no trouble furnishing them for a legit vehicle.

I "might" be looking...

There is also one in west va thats cheaper. its a real model as well. has arb lockers, gears, winch, arb bumpers, and diesel conversion. The custom made and dot stuff kinda of bother me.

No "visible" rust he says. I guess that depends where you look! Might be a consideration if it came from the UK and sat on the docks for 7 months

Here is the answer I got back:

"This vehicle is a 1993 Land Rover Defender 110, not a 1999. A 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 has not been determined eligible for importation. This vehicle was properly imported by a company called Export Auto Sales and is legal for sale in the United States.
"

Probably means that the import of this truck was probably not done for a 1999 110..... Seemed great, now it looks a little more fishy....
Td5 did not exist in '93.
