97 Blinking/blank odometer

Hey guys. New to the forum here. I tried searching the threads. but couldnt find what I was looking for. Just bought a 97 soft top and noticed the odometer blinks and goes blank most of the time. I have heard this is a pretty common problem with the 97s. Does anyone know of a fix?
