97 AC Unit: How to remove the evaporator casing?

My 97 AC is dripping condensation from the back of the small plastic elbow coming out of the evaporator casing (it's not running thru the elbow into the rubber drain hose as it should). I'm trying to get the evaporator casing out in order to inspect where the leak is coming from.

Service repair no 82.25.20 from the 1997 NAS Workshop Manual seems to cover this, but darned if I can figure it out. I've removed the three nuts securing the housing, but can't seem to get things beyond there.

Any tips from someone that has done this?

oh - nevermind - I missed the part about you have to disconnect the union on the return pipe to get it out; which means discharging the refrigerant. Messing with the refrigerant is beyond my skillset - I think it's time to send it to the shop

Have you tried blowing it out with compressed air to clear the blockage?

Yep, it will then pull up and out. The pipes through the bulkhead are naggly...

blow air into the elbow? won't that push any blockage up into the unit? i can't really see what is beyond the elbow unless i get into the evaporator unit. the rubber hose is new and has no blockage.

There's nothing much in there.
Just a radiator....the water just collects in the bottom *tray* area.
I'd try blowing the compressed air first, too.
