I say Jack up 1 rear wheel, and spinn the rear driveshaft with your hand and listen to the T-case, if you hear something funny going on inside then there may be something wrong.

I've got some scans of the transfer box pages from the LR work shop manual if that'll help, probably too large to post but I could email them.

If you want to swing by this weekend I can take a look for you for free.

You do not have a chain in your T-case.

Thanks Ron,
I run it by LRWC friday and they confirmed it is the TC case. I think I'm going to use one of RDS rebuilds. Oh well, the defender 90 comes with a price.

Ron,
I also removed the pan from the transfer case and replaced the fluid. I didn't see anything wrong in there. I put some gear oil in. The noise has gotten better over the last few days but is still there. The mechanic said it is coming from the TC. I might drain the transmission today as well just to be sure. It really sounds as though a gear Is chopping around somewhere.
Thanks again for your help,
Rich
