'93 NAS D110 Brake Light ON

I am getting the brake light on the dashboard to flicker on and off at various times while driving. This is the same light on the dash that comes on when the e-brake is engaged. It seems to come on more when braking then may flicker off and on a while after that.

It started after my first wheeling trip where I got a little muddy.

Serches here show posts about rear brake lights staying on but i didn't see any about the dash light staying on.

Is there a switch or something in/under the ebrake boot that could be bad? Or maybe just dirty?

Sorry - FSM is ordered and on its way here.

Andy, when you figure it out, let me know, I have the same issue. I believe its the ebrake cable needing adjustment, because if i push the ebrake down all the way, it goes away.

UpdateWill do Ryan. I was thinking maybe mud got jammed up in the ebrake housing and causing the drums to not fully reset once the cable is released. Or its a switch which is going bad. I have the ebrake cable fully released and the dash light still flickers.

I was buried in Pines Barren mud and basically high-centered on the mud. I could see how mud would have gotten in there when I was winched out. May need to crawl under there and check. But the ebrake is not engaging when the light goes on - the truck still rolls easily though that does not necessarily mean that the drums aren't fully releasing. Something tells me that the light is not sensing the cable or drum - but rather just a switch on the ebrake handle that determines position and lights.

That warning light is also tied into the brake fluid level sensor in the cap on the brake master cylinder. Check that as well, it might be cruddy or half plugged in or something.

Or low on fluid because your pads are worn . . . .

It was the brake light switch - the one down on the e-brake. Took 5 mins of time total now no more flickering brake light on the dash.
