90 ST Cage Removal

At some point I want to have my 90's cage powder coated. It looks like it comes apart easy (at least easier than the 110) My question is, can you remove the cage above the doors? I know there is a bolt there to pull most of the cage away but what if you want to remove that last piece that goes into the supports behind the doors?

The whole thing just comes off with the bolts. Big tip is to spin the nut while holding the torx bit, rather than spin the torx bit. Less chance of stripping. This obviously does not work on those bolts without nuts on the other end. You cannot remove the part that goes into the foam bit on the b-pillar.

Not sure how you could do it. Maybe mask off the foam part? On a 1994, the outside foam ring is removable so you could do a proper mask job, but I am guessing the process would hurt the foam.

BTW there is nothing wrong with that cage as it looks now.

Why are there no snaps on your doors?

I assume my doors are not original. The guy I bought the truck from never did any work to it either in the 6 years he had it, but I am assuming some one did some paint work before him. My soft top rails are body color but the rivets are not painted. If I take the windows off the doors, the rivets in the top are not painted either. It was done well that is for sure.

As for the soft top rails, the rails are an after market item on 94's. 94's came with snaps for the soft tops.

I know about the snaps but most people with rails only have black ones. Just pointing out some paint work had to be done
