85A or 100A alternator

I need a new alternator for the 95 D-90 (v-belt) and the local parts place shows two alternators listed. One is a 100 amp and the other is an 85 amp. It says either one will work, is that correct? They are roughly the same price, so I'll go with whichever one will #1-work and #2-give me the most for my money.
