85 D90 differential/half-shaft question

I have a customer with an '85 90 (the 2nd of 3 press cars from what I've been told.) The rear diff is noisy, loose and leaky. I have a line on a pair of 24 spline Tru-tracs.
The 90 has drum brakes on the rear axle.
What are the options for using these diffs on this axle? I have several DI and RRCLWB parts cars, and would imagine that there is a solution staring at me from the hulks in the orchard, but I was looking for insight from someone who has made this sort of change.

Thanks!

Trevor

Put a disco rear axle in it and gain disc brakes. Bobeck did that swap and installed an ARB. Going to use both true tracks ? Looking for one for my front.

yup much faster than swapping the hubs and stub axles, which you will have to do to install 24 spline axles. To hook up the brakes use the flex hose and 3 way tee from the 83 and the metal lines from the disco. Et voila.

Or.....(if the owner wants to keep the vehicle "factory" with crappy rear drums) install the 24 spline diff (straight bolt in), then get a pair of V8 HD halfshafts. they use the normal thick drive flange (all the drive flanges, whether 10 spline or 24, have the same spline count at the outer end), but obviously the V8 spec shafts are 24 spline at the diff end.

this is the same setup that factory Euro V8 90's used, and also the "heavy duty" axle spec, used on a lot of military 90's (although bot the V8 and the mil rovers just used 4 pinion HD diffs)

the RH (short) shaft is FRC8094

LH (longer) shaft is FRC8095

PS... they also used these shafts and the thicker drive flanges on the camel trophey disco's, as these had the 4 pin HD diff fitted in the rear.

Put in a DI or ABS RRC rear axle. In the end it will be easier.

What year / models axels can be used in a NAS D90 ?

When installing my winer tyres and having the anti-sway bars removed, I noticed that my axels are quite rusted on the D90 I bought this year and I can get a disco or RR one from a scrap yard locally.
