I have seen this 90 in person. While its not everyones cup of tea, its a show off truck. He built it because he can, and because he wanted too.
I went for a drive in one of his tuned TDCi and it was drifting on a roundabout. Scary as hell and very impressive performance from a Diesel.
If they have the talent and time to tune a truck to see what it can do just for the fun of it, why the heck not. Its not a for sale and hope to get orders vehicle. Some people like to think outside the box. Open your mind.
Oh I know who Nene is by ruputation, etc. and Chelsey Truck, Kahn and the rest, and have admired some of Nene Overland's conversion for years, BUT it's still ugly. Also just because isn't always a good reason. Remember when Top Gear strapped MOD rockets to minicoopers and shot them off a ski jump at Lilyhammer? Because they could...

I think I'll make the sound of that engine my ringtone though...

Would be way more legit if the stig were driving.

No need to cool it. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, at least in most parts of the civilized world. I don't care if its the pope curing cancer who built it, it's still a ridiculous project... in my opinion. To me it's a sign of profound lack of intelligence to put something on steroids that were never designed to do that well in the first place, just because you can. Just because you can doesn't necessarily mean you should. At least if you have good taste and judgement. That's my opinion.

Jealous? Hmmmmmm, I don't know. This truck is a bit of a Dirk Diggler! I'm sure we're all a bit jealous, but it's just because of the one thing. The rest of it just doesn't fit the bill. IMHO, it's fugly. Hands down awesome mechanicals, save that of the fact that a stock defender can probably out perform doing everything it was intended to do, ie. go anywhere, get there, and live off asphalt! Would have loved to have seen this amazing effort put into a competitive Camel, Rally or Dakar vehicle. Not the Gumball! Just my .02

Someone's going to get a lot of business on replacement of broken drive-line components because of the excessive HP

Torque speaks to me more than Horsepower.

I think it needs a set of paddle tires all the way around then take it to the Oregon dunes!

Agreed it's not fitting (for me), but without others creating mods like that there wouldn't be innovation. I like the "Smile Factor" saying of course this has "Frown Factor"...lol.

I expected a sheep to step onto the road any minute during the video...

Would have preferred to see them put that money into the ultimate go anywhere defender, not just a Cayenne killer...

The biggest problem was killing the off road ability with the fixed lower suspension. If they knew what they were doing...they would have designed a long travel air sprung suspension. Drop it down for the road and bring it back to normal for off road. It is easy to design it for both purposes. Dual purpose should be the real goal. It will never be great on the road compared to a real road car. This is just the law of physics.
