"60's" era 90 on ebay

Anyone know anything about the guy who is selling a 60's defender on ebay? I talked to him at Tidewater. He said he gets them in Europe fixes them up and gets them registered in N.C.
he siad he gets them registered as that old to get around EPA emissions etc.
Is this another one of those scams that will end up making it impossible to register and insure the vehicle ? Like VIN swapping etc.

Sounds like vin swapping because Defenders weren't built until about '83.

I saw this truck the other day when I stopped by to pick up a throttle position sensor for the d90....
He has several projects around the shop similar to this, and lots of parts disco's and RR's
I have never bought any vehicles from John, he sells lots of parts on ebay.
He is a nice guy, but like I said....I've not bought any vehicles

.
That's all you (or the jury) need to hear. "Getting around" silly things like federal laws etc are what some people call "crimes" or "felonies."

You wouldn't happen to have a link to one of his eBay auctions, would you? Or possibly his eBay id so we could find his auctions? Thanks.
