I don't know about the brakes, only their unreliability.

Sorry...was away on business. Here you go. They are a bit odd shaped but fit nearly perfectly. They also leave enough room on top to keep the quick nuts on and stuff the Bimini in. I used a piece of foam core I had laying around to keep them from knocking into each other.
