5 Bar rear door panel for SW

Does anyone know of a vendor here in the US who sells a diamond plate/5 bar SW rear door panel. Seems most vendors in the uk have them but can't find one over here. The shipping on these is about the same as the part from a UK vendor like Paddock's.

Thanks in advance

I have been searching for the same thing. I called DAP and RN, neither carry them, which is hard to believe. I'm ready to cut one out of diamondplate myself. DAP sells sheet of 5 bar for $80 + shipping.

I'll do some checking on that and let you know. I did some measuring, and it looks like a sheet of 24" x 32" should do it. most sheet are 24x24 or 24x48. I'll let you know.

My local Ace Hardware had sheets of the 5 bar diamond plate for $8.50 per square foot. If mine has it yours should be able to get it.

Scott - I'm all over that.

DAP quoted me $85 for 48"x48", and $98 shipping to my zip due to size. WTF?

Check with a steel shop or something in your neighborhood. I have bought stuff from Waukegan Steel here in the Chicago area and I am sure there are hundreds of similar places but I'll bet they're cheaper than other places and you don't pay shipping. I know the Menards by me doesn't carry sheets that large and they charge a fortune for the stuff.

Agreed, just about any metal shop can get the 5 bar for you. You can also call these guys if you can't find it local and ask them to cut it down for shipping.

That was my theory. So far, I keep getting "5 bar? what the hell is that?" I just have to keep looking. I'm going to be putting in the folding table and cooker as well.

From what I can tell, that link doesn't have 5 bar; only regular diamond plate (aka 1 bar).

Their are other names for it including birmabrite. It is used exclusively on fire trucks, etc. so they should know what it looks like.

It's also known as chequer plate.
