4.6 short block

Hey everyone, I think I have been researching this topic for a couple of years now. But, If I were to do a 4.6 swap in my defender would you recomend a new short block or purchasing a used one. I've been reading all over the net, and a good argument against a used block is that it could have been overheated or mis-treated. Can you recomend a good source stateside? Ballpark price if you've purchased one.
Thanks very much

I've heard mixed things. Supposedly it's the same block as the 4.0, but with a different crank, rods and pistons. BUT since it's a bigger displacement, people ask absurd prices for it.

I've also read that a 300 buick crank swap can come out to a 4.8/4.9 with a .010 bored 3.9 block.

Brace for impact, I'm in a "modifying mood". Massive thread count inbound.
