3rd starter is out

alright, i'm on my third rebuilt starter from advance auto parts in the past year and a half. i'm starting to think they really aren't worth it even though they replace it for free. Right now i turn the key, i hear the relay click and i hear the solenoid push the gear out but it doesn't turn the gear. it's weird. i've heard good things about mean green starters and but there's also nothing wrong going with genuine. what do you think i should do? by the way i have an RRC. thanks!

You sure its the starter and not an electrical issue to the starter? I have an ongoing problem were the starter doesn't always work when the temp drops into the 30s or colder. The relay clicks but nothing.

For and autobox, I woiuld replace with which ever is less expensive between the MG and genuine. For stick, however, I would go with MG since you can always use the starter to crawl with if necessary like bumping over some obstacles.

yeah i'm pretty sure it's the starter. why would the solenoid pop out but not spin? i just woke up but i'm about to go take it out and take it back to advance and have them test it.

alright i've had my friends battery in my car for the past week or so and the connections didn't fit well so the wires were only half way on the battery. his disco 2 has been sitting for a year so his battery wasn't in the best of shape. so i put my battery back in and it started right up. i just didn't know that with a bad batter that it could pop the solenoid out but not turn. now i know!
