Turning the tire to rotate drivetrain is a bush work method. It looks good for the TV camera prolly as well. Plus its less tools to have on hand while doing the work. Does not really mean it is any more effective, but it might be fun to do at a campfire tech session.
Nothing wrong with adjusting valves often. Its gravy money and lets you know how things are functioning on the engine. But I'm glad you're schooled on how to do things correctly now
