Had the vacuum pump replaced April 2015. Now the shop is telling me it has failed and is leaking and needs to be replaced again. Seems like it should have lasted longer than it did.
Is this one of those items that fails often or is there something else going on that is causing it to fail that I need to address?
I haven't noticed any coolant loss. But now that I have spoken/written those words my next post will be about coolant loss. I can go mop up some oil from my driveway and have that tested
Mine was leaking & I replaced it with a genuine Wabco. It failed in less than 50 miles, froze up solid !!.
Fortunately with the plunger depressed, could have damaged the cam, I suspect.
So I got an off brand unit made in Turkey & its still working., over 2 years old.
Been told many times the Wabco's of today are junk, I should have know better that to get the Wabco.
Another route would be to go with a power steering, hydraulic driven brake booster, lots of "Hot Roders" use them.
Summit Racing sells them.
They dont seem to be made as poorly any longer. We used to see failures almost regularly, I haven't had to warranty one in at least 2 years
