Dennis

Ps. Did you think of having yours rebuilt at a local starter / alternator shop? Bosch parts are easy to come by.

I bought mine from Paddocks in the UK. Britpart item. With UPS shipping came to less than $200 and I had it in under two days. I suggest placing your order by phone not by internet.

Might check with Atlantic-British. http://www.roverparts.com/ They stock tdi parts but don't really publish a list on their site.

We do not have the starter at AB yet. We will in the next couple months.

Doug did you specify two day delivery? last item ordered from UK took about 12 days to get here. I think Paddock was $115 pretty good

Paddocks asks you how you "want" it shipped. My truck was down so I specified UPS (brown). When I order stuff from Paddocks and specify UPS I usually get it faster than I get stuff from Rovers North via regular ground. The starter was heavy and was around 43 pounds sterling to ship but still cheaper than anyplace in the states. You need to call by around 9:30 am EST in order for the item to ship same day since GMT is 5 hrs ahead of us.

Dennis, Doug, and all thanks for the inifo. Looks like I might have dodged the starter bullet for now. We think it is a bad body ground, so working on that premise right now.

Starters aren't rocket science, any good auto electrical should be able to rebuild them.
If you find it's the starter, let me know, I've had work done at a good shop in College Park I think it is. Somewhere near the airport anyway, it's been a few years.
I've had shops rebuild 2.25 diesel starters for reasonable $$.
