300Tdi fan pulley mount

I stripped apart my 300Tdi engine this weekend and the fan was almost impossibly to get off. After using every trick in the book it was finally pulled off, but the end result was the threaded side with the 4 screw inserts pulled away from the bearing spindle.

I did some searching online and some Aussie guys use a Ford Falcon waterpump and press that bearing and threaded pulley mount off and use it. I also sourced a John Deere JD9257 bearing to use possibly with my old mount.

Has anyone replaced these without getting a new cover? Any state side water pump equivalents to the Ford Falcon?

Some old Ford water pumps here might work. But I need to know the OD of the bearing or the ID to fit the mount.

I did that a few months ago, check on the forum I think there is a specific discussion on that topic. I got my bearing from Santiago, member of the forum, I think it came from Argentina. In the discussion I think I put pics of the bearing package, you can see the reference.
Cheers

Thanks Julien, I think I should be good with the bearing. But I still need that threaded part because that snapped from the 4 hole mount. Inside diameter is .62 I think.

I might be abel to pull it off and stick it back on, just not sure if it will hold well. I will experiment this weekend.

Is your problem taking the spindle off the bearing shaft ?

Remenber when you're pressing everything back in place to folllow a certain sequence to make your life easier, and also take distance measurement before pulling out bearing and spindle.

Cheers

You have to press the bearing out of the cover before trying to remove the threaded collar. Otherwise it will break as you have discovered. Measure the clearance between threaded boss and the timing cover so that you can get the spacing right when you press the replacement on. There is a jag idler pulley that uses a similar bearing. That's how I did mine. Belt still makes a racket.
