300Tdi engine cover

Just wanted to check with whomever will know this...

I purchased a new engine cover (the plastic bling with heavy foam underneath) to sit on my 300Tdi. It arrived from the UK, but it doesn't look like it attaches to anything.

Does it really just sit on the engine with no "hard mount"?

Yep.

Or just use some duct tape, zip ties, or bailing wire.

What did you pay total?

No they just fit on top. The oil cap helps hold it on the front and the snug fit the rest. It should be a tight fit around the fuel lines. As it heats up it will lay right down and fit pretty snug. I have never had a problem with mine coming off.

Attached with gravity, nothing else. I took mine out, prefer engine without it.

I grabbed one to. With the pounds conversion it was about 60$ shipped. It was used, but the picture looked pretty "new" to me. Some looked old.

What I'd like to know is why, why are 95% of the ebay.co.uk sellers saying "will not ship to the United States" in their posts? Is customs stopping LR parts???

Because they don't want the hassle ... How many us ebayer's don't ship to the UK?

US shipping is expensive and I would imagine that lots of people get starry eyed about the cheap prices then get upset when shipping turns out to be 5 times the item cost.

Heck, I live in Germany and regularly find UK ebayers who won't ship to me. Keep in mind no customs for shipments within EU. Likely just a legacy mindset of pre-EU days. Very frustrating.

Yeah, it's just small minded idiots who won't sell overseas or to the US.

what difference does it make? all the seller needs to do is write the address out and stick it on!
