300tdi Cylinder Head - Where To Buy

It's likely that my cylinder head is cracked and will need replaced. Is there a source or vendor that is considered 'go-to' for cylinder heads? Places to avoid?

Thanks, Keith

I got a new cylinder head from here after my return from Morocco and after my head gasket blew.

I've had it on my 300tdi for about 200,000kms without issue.

Works out at about 575 dollars plus postage. Comes with engine bolts, original gaskets and valves installed.

Lift old one off and install new one and you're good to go.

Not sure it is worth buying from a source that may not be OEM

Thats not a bad price for a bare cylinder head.

I think....think,mine was made in Spain as is a lot of replacement Td5 heads these days.

(Mine has been worked hard....used a lot for bringing in wood thus getting stuck in mud here and there. No sign of any problems to date)

I'd use the same supplier if I had to do another change.

Al the best

Curious to know how these head kit suppliers know which thickness head gasket your engine needs? Guess they just supply the thickest. Which may not be the optimum choice.
Eric.

For mine it was a 3 hole which was what was on it. You'll see what you have if you check along the gasket at the cylinder block.

Eric.
FYI, It's not the head that dictates the gasket thickness it's the piston protrusion from the bore that determines the thickness.
Piston protrusion should not exceed 0,8mm
