300Tdi Air Filter Canister

I've been curious about the air filter canister on the 300Tdi in my 110. The normal position seems to be with the air intake opening pointing down at the back of the engine. I don't have a snorkel fitted (yet). My question is, is there supposed to be any kind of intake hose on there now?

We've had some pretty heavy rains here the past couple weeks and I get a little worried hitting some of the puddles on the road with the intake pointing down like that.

I might be able to find the parts for you to cut the fender and run it to the side - stockish- until you get a snorkel.

The natural intake position for a TDI defender intake is the upper left hand or right hand corner of the windshield.

This hose assembly came in the shippment with my engine. Is this a normal intake hose for the 300Tdi, or as I have convinced myself, is it the under bonnet part of a snorkel assembly? The intake on the plastic elbow seems kind of small and restrictive to me. And what would the "Y" peice in the middle be for?

Well, I guess that answers the question then. Thanks John.

I may have an extra 1 and 2 of page 567 if you want to cut your fender.

I'd be interested in those two parts if you have them. This would be for the right hand side, correct?

Do you have the parts catalouge available in a computer printable form? Is it a file that can be shared and viewed easily? I wish I could attach photos like that for people to help with repairs.

Do tell
