Made it further than half of the other guys, but the Hammers won.

Thanks guys, very helpful.

Steve, spare coolant cap and brass coolant plugs? Can they fail or is it if you loose them? Great list. You need to post more pictures of your two projects!

My timing belt has some more miles on it but it's coming up.

Coolant plugs are plastic...if you ever removed one to top-up, then can easily crack when you re-tighten them (I know). I never got any of the brass ones, but I do keep a few extra of the plastic ones in my center console - I've cracked two of them in the past.

My radiator plug was black painted metal. The one on the thermostat housing is plastic and I'm swapping out both. They're so cheap I will get spares.

Does anyone know of a good 300tdi parts manual? The NAS one only has V8 and I have a BM Fastparts one but it doesn't seem complete. Looking for cooling hose numbers.

Just go down to the "Land Rover Defender 90, 110 & 130" section and click on 'Part Catalogue 1987 onwards'. Thank me later...

Thanks Nathan.

So, coolant hoses. There's a lot of them. Are there any in particular that would be worthwhile to carry as spares?

I just carry straight hoses of various sizes, pairs of hose joints (for splicing), misc hose clamps (in pairs) and use reusable unicoils for all my bends. that covers all but the two main hoses.

Jason:

Curious...have you gotten these yet? Are they as advertised? Pondering ordering up a set since the price is right.
