David Marchand said "Going full width lowered my egt by 250 degrees."

Could you explain that.

Thanks

Well, it works in several different ways. The capacity of Daves full width intercooler is over 2.5X that of the standard 300Tdi cooler. The effect is as follows. First the charged air is cooler taking a few degrees right off the top. Second, the cooler charged air is also denser giving higher compression allowing a more efficient combustion and better performance. This allows driving at set speed with less effort from the motor, and a correspondingly lower EGT.

Thanks Matt....

I misread Dave's post and thought he was referring to the injection pump.

Which intercooler is Dave running? Matt, my exhaust came out nice. It has a nice growl now. IT definately flows like a bastard now.

Dave is running a full width Allisport.

I'm no longer dealing with them (Allisport), but am working on getting something US produced.

The intercooler he has is one of my design which I reluctantly shared with them. Allisport produced a few of them and are making a similar version which they currently sell.

What are people doing for hoses for full-width intercoolers?

Ok.. so where do I look for my full width cooler? Also, will it work if I install AC one day?

Look to Matt or Pendy.

The answer to your second question is yes.

To be entirely fair, Dave is not using the Pendy designed intercooler. It is a in house modified standard Allisport intercooler and custom fabricated Radiator / intercooler frame incorparating a standard D90 AC system, designed to work with an Pendy modified (full width) Tdi radiator.

To continue in the full fairness disclosure, the original concept for this is 100% Pendy. Jim is the man with the "know how" to solve your diesel performance issues and the rest of us just try to follow .

do you mean a modified LR standard size intercooler by Allisport?

Does anybody have pics of a full width cooler + AC set up?

Well,

This is my arrangement. As you can see the tank does not block flow through the radiator and condensor. I can make it fit in a stock regular grill. And its made to fit a larger radiator then stock.

JP

Not every truck will need a setup like this. Specs determine wether it is necessary or not. Engine. Tires. Drivetrain. Vehicle. Etc....

That's a handsome thing Jim.

The 110 doormobile running the Pendy assembly has never come close to overheating, which prior to installation had rendered it very much undriveable. Owner reports that driving hwy speed is no longer an issue even with the autobox and the AC running full blast fully loaded for travel.

This is it installed

That looks good Pendy. Is that the oil cooler fittings sticking out or the a/c condenser?

I had an Allard phase 2 intercooler, radiator, and a/c condenser on mine and I had to use the fiberglass extension. But it did make a marked improvement on engine performance. I wish I would have had a unit like that when I did it. I had to custom make all the mounting bracket and extensions to make mine work.

Its A/C

With the larger radiator that is thinner a regular 'enlarged' intercooler blocks airflow. It was my hope Dave would get the larger intercooler-but life happens I guess.
