3 bolt to 4 bolt LHD PAS box conversion

I have a 1985 LHD 110 with PAS steering and a worn out 3 bolt box. The 3 bolt box is hard to source and expensive at around 450 GBP plus shipping cost for 21 kg. Was told is it possible to convert to a later 4 bolt box which is cheaper 280 GBP and freely available. Has anyone done the conversion ?

I have not, but you might want to ask on a UK website. IIRC they are swapable, but please don't quote me on it.

From what I gather either box will bolt right in. The issue seems to be the pipe fittings on the 3 bolt are imperial and the 4 bolt are metric. I just opted for the 3 bolt as I want to drive the Rover asap.

Ken,
No reason to go all the way to the UK for one. The RRC and Disco 1 use the same 4 bolt box. Yes they are direct bolt in but the hose ends may are sightly different. The local Parker hose store fixed me up in 10 mins with a custom hose.
