3.9 Engine Rebuild

Does anyone know if the 3.9L in 94 NAS D90s were originally painted? If so, what colors? I'm having mine rebuilt and figured it would make sense to do it now if it should be done. Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated.

The TDi blocks, at least some, are gold which I thought was pretty unusual in a good way. Red and other colors never made sense to me in a Rover. Gold somehow fits just right. Of course they don't stay that way long.

VHT makes a high temp paint in silver that bonds well with the aluminium block. It will make a discolored block shine.
