Does anyone know if an auto tran and an lt 230 from a disco are a direct bolt on to a 3.5 engine?

Thanks

Gus yes indeed it is seņor, if the donor was equipped with a 3.9 youre good if the donnor disco had the 4.0 the you need to use the donnor flexplate so you can take advantage of the latter style torque converter... any way you go you could get a trans out of a 4.0 and reuse your 3.5 torque converter.
so long story short yes the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same for all 3.5,3.9,4.2,4.0 and 4.6 engines and yes you can mate lt230 or bw tcases to any of those 4hp22 trannies the 4hp22e and 4hp24e mated to later d2's and p38's will mate as well but need compushift in order to operate on older d1's, d90's and pre p38 rangies as e deciphers electronic.

Chances are if you try to swap in an lt230 for a BW you will need to change the transmission tailshaft (long spline) from a newer version. It's a 2 min operation when holding the right bits.

The 3.5 it is a 4 speed manual

So how much of a pain in the ass would the job be?
( convert the manual to auto )

Aww. Why do you want to swap out the 4 speed? Does it sound like somebody threw rocks inside it?

Shouldn't be tough. If it's a 90/110 I think you'll have issues with center console jobby. I'd recommend paying the piper and getting a legitimate one(like the Ashcroft type) or moving the shifter to the original location like in project Pilgrim from LRM rather than make some crackhead console from plywood that looks like turd with the shifter in your elbow.

If it's an older Range Rover I know nothing about that at all.

I have a 3.5 with an auto trans here is a pic. Not sure what it all includes as it came to this way. The only issue I am having with it is finding an interior trim for it.
