200tdi water pump leak

I have developed a leak right behind the fan pulley. Took the shroud, fan, and viscous coupling off just so I could locate it. Is that a common place for failure on a water pump less than one year old?

Most likely. I don't recall the source. Could the belt be too tight and cause early failure?

Do you think your tensioner is not working correctly? Some of the new non OE pumps are bad right out of the box. Best to get an OE quality in my experience. (had the same thing happen)

Isn't a 200 TDI a V-belt setup?

Right, v belt no tensioner. I have been running that belt pretty tight because of a squeaky alternator pulley.

It should not matter. If it is a year old it should be under warranty.
