200tdi tach

Can anyone point me at a doc on adding a tachometer to a 200tdi?

Your 93 is prewired just get the tach and hook into the multiplug in the wiring harness behind the instrument binnacle. Check the wiring diagram for the correct pin.

I'm looking into doing this for my 200Tdi as well. Best I've been able to figure out is to wire the tach up to the W terminal of your alternator. Then (at least on the VDO tachs), there's some switch settings you have to fiddle with on the tach to set the right amount of pulses/revolution.

I've been looking at either the VDO 333-156 or 333-158

Here's the VDO instructions: http://www.egauges.com/pdf/vdo/0-515-012-044.pdf

Edit: Ooops didn't notice you're in a 93. Doug is right. My 83 isn't wired for one.

Sorry I should have said that it is on a 1992 110, I guess if I get the 1993 parts catalog I can find the relevant bits then.

The 200tdi uses a plug on the back of the alt to make the different wiring connections. The w terminal is covered by this plug and that signal wire runs into the truck behind the instrument cluster. Just check the wiring diagram for the correct wire color/code pin orientation. Easiest is the stock gauge but one that can be adjusted to the alt signal may be cheaper as Chance pointed out.

Thanks, this helps a lot. There is no place for a stock gauge right now but my plan is to pod all the new gauges until I do the rhd to lhd conversion then just make a new dash.

VDO model 333-156. Run a wire from the tach and adjust. Simple, looks so good, you will want to replace all of the instruments...

What did it take to make the fuel gauge work? Did you buy the VDO sender? If so, how did it install, and in what location is your fuel tank?

Andrew I have a complete LHD drive dash- in better than average condition from a 94 NAS and was considering selling it.

I used the stock sender with a new VDO Vision fuel gauge and it works fine.

Yep, it works perfectly with the stock sender. Model 301-105, 240 to 33 Ohm range
