the engine wiring harness plugs into a multi plug on the firewall. Trace the red white wire back to that multi plug and unplug things and check it there. I have seen some scary amounts of green corrosion there

I had been testing the wire from the connector at the key the whole time never getting continuity. I decided to go the other way and plug in at the starter and work my way back had continuity everywhere even the relay that I didn't discover until the end. kept checking the wire in three places between the firewall and the connector and no continuity. I stabbed the wire an inch from the connector and had continuity everywhere. Stupid connector broke at a crappy crimp (not mine).

culprit:

repair:

In the end the truck started. I have a spare starter and a greater hatred of the mad crimper who worked on my truck.

Thanks everyone,

Oscar

glad it was something simple. Sucks you had to get proficient @ replacing a 200 starter, that job sucks.

I'm pretty sure I can drop and reinstall a starter in less than ten minutes now maybe 30 including the down pipe. Putting a new terminal on a single wire takes me two days though.

Well that starter that I installed in February '14 just STB, so it got replaced by a RDavisinVA 3.1KW starter that had been collecting dust on the shelf. That 3.1KW starter is awesome.

Pulled and replaced in 2 hours, I had to check on my 10 week old puppy or I would have knocked it out faster. Fun times, not really. Thanks again for all the help.
