200tdi rear crank seal

I finally got around to swapping out my clutch fork and clutch on my 200tdi.
installed a New rear crank seal and gasket between the flywheel housing and block, while i was in there.
I had always lived with(3 years,18000 miles) a slight oil drip and had hoped it would be gone after doing all this work

truck ran great, shifted better, took less pressure to depress, I was pumped, until we saw the puddle underneath the truck, it was leaking worse.

What could it be? what steps did I forget.

One question I had was, That since the flywheel bolts go all the way through the crank, will the oil find its way through the bolts?

I have a leak as well after doing my rear main, although it didn't leak immediately after the change...about 3-4 months after. I used the genuine Dowty teflon seal. I need to go back in there and do it again...

No idea.

My theory is that I didn't install the seal "dry" (I applied oil to the crank surface and seal before installation) and that screwed it up.

My next go-around, I'm going to install it completely bone dry and see how that fares.

Ah, the old counterfeit 200tdi rear main seal trick!!! Been there done that. You must buy the Dowty lip seal made from Teflon or else you will be hating yourself.

Two hundies just have the seal, no plate
One thing trailer fitter didnt mention is not to finger the Teflon lip of the seal. (edit) fitted dry as far as I know, which in the dozen or so have been
Sure sorry you need to pull it again, good luck.
