I've tried everything from snug to tight. Is there a pound foot torque I should aim for?

Where is the filter head from? Sounds like something is wrong with it. I've never seen a new copper washer fitting not seal.

Yeah I've tried a few copper washers and even a crush washer for the sake of it. I've tried kinda snug, snug, and tight. Tried silicone thread lock. Nothing stops it. And it's not a slow drip, it's a decent leak. It had has to be the head. It's a new head that I just got from Robert Davis here on the forum. Anyone else had issues with those? I know Robert is a legit guy, I may have gotten a bad one. I'll find a new head and see what happens.

Actually I'll try to anneal the copper washers and try again tomorrow night. My wife is going to kill me for turning all these "no trust me it'll only take 45 minutes" jobs into full day ordeals.

You should be talking to Robert directly from the start.

Stanadyne fm 100, get rid of the China junk. All my diesels have one with 2 micron filters. Plus you can run a heater, pump and water sense.

Absolutely. He's on this thread so I'll give him a shout. I've not reached out to him because I was certain it was me doing something wrong. I didn't want to bother him, but after all these attempts I think it has to be the ports themselves.

We've had no trouble with these filters, but there is always the first time.
I sent you a PM with my email. so we can talk through your issue.

Thanks Robert! Sent you a reply. Also just went and picked up a few fiber washers to try before I totally toss in my hat.

Some closure to this thread. I tried fiber gaskets: still a leaky mess. I annealed the original copper gaskets: still a leaky mess. Installed a new Land Rover spin on filter: still a leaky mess. Finally I re-installed the original cav style head and filter: all good. No leaks.

Where did you get this Stanadyne?
It doesn't show up in stock in many places in my search.
