200tdi EGT probe location ...

I am looking to put in a probe for my EGT on the 200tdi and was wandering where others have drilled to put it in. Any suggestion welcome and pics are a plus.

Thanks all

Pat

Assuming you mean a Defender 200TDI, the best location (IMO) is in the manifold just below the turbo flange. It requires the manifold to be out unless you have a right angle drill or similar. This will thus give the pre-turbo temperature for the combined gas flow.

An easier to install loaction is on the #1 exhaust pipe, which is where I have mine as I've been too lazy to pull the manifold.

Well ...

It look like I am going to get a taped sleeve welded on the #4 on the exhaust manifold so that I can screw my probe there. I like the idea that I can remove and replace the probe over time.

It is still not done so if anyone with other input out there, speak up !

Thanks all

Pat

You can drill and tap the manifold directly. It is pretty thick.
