200Tdi Battery Warning light?

Rookie question here - New battery just installed and battery warning light still illuminated. Are the intelligence there to tell me that the Alternator is bad or could this be a wiring issue?

Try and gives some engine revs. If the light goes off then it might be your idle setting (too low) mine dies that sometimes. Give it a rev and light goes off.

Thanks, Jeff! I know what you are saying, I had that happen quite often before changing the battery. I just returned from driving and it stayed illuminated the whole time.

Check all wiring connections to the alternator and engine ground. If you have the type with the voltage regulator/brush pack that screws on the back, pull it off and make sure the brushes are not stuck.

While you are there...

PS belt.
Dayco 17285
13mm x 28.5"

One day I should put together a North American parts list for the 200TDI Defender.

seriously! im slightly amazed the indie vendors haven't pulled together a recommendation list. it certainly seems it would help speed up the purchasing process, idk.
