I've set up several trucks this way. Will work fine (assuming that you are running standard diff ratio)
If you are running 4:10's the 1:22 box is a little on the low side and you'll be running fairly high RPMs at hwy speed.

Yeeeee Haw! Another D-90 Sourcer and I got 'er done yesterday. Glad I did the T-case swap. It sure makes it more civilized to drive. Ol' Blue got on the freeway for the first time today.

Somehow missed this post.... I put this together previously. It compares the combinations of transmissions and trans cases.

Cool- how does it do on some of those Co. grades with the tall gearing ?

I've definitely lost something there, but it's not too bad. I just downshift. No worse than my 3.9 110. Plus, the HCPU is lighter. I've yet to take her over a real pass (>10,000ft), but the 1,200' gain to my house on the freeway is fine.

I took her out yesterday in the snow storm (2' WooHoo!). Plenty of takeoff power, but those street tires have got to go...

Randy he's installed and running but not on the road yet. He's doing the td5 dash like yours and it was bare bulkhead when I left Sunday. Right now the truck still has the 1.66.

No changes made to the XC, just the motor and tranny. You got an extra 1.4 in your garage?

Brian, the 1.4 is a great fit with my 200. I especially appreciate the fact that there is not struggle or strain getting started in first and 5th has a comfortable range from 45 to 70mph. On the flats there's very little shifting needed. Just sit back and listen to the turbo spool.

Thanks Clay...may eventually be headed off in this direction. Read thread after thread after thread last night on the various options, opinions and experiences.
