200 TDI Fuel Pump

I have a stallling issue with my 200 tdi. Cleaned the fuel filter and the sedimentator. Checked to identify possible sources of air infiltrating the system. Then decided to manually prime system to purge any air. Cracked banjo nut on top of fuel filter to allow fuel and air to be purged, proceeded to pump stepper pump on side of mechanical fuel pump. There was no action or pressure gained. cranked the motor about 5 times(attempting to prime after each crank) to make sure that the cam was in a position that would allow the manual stepper lever to prime. Still nothing. After this, tightened everything back up and truck started and ran. But, now I am concerned about the fuel pump... should I be? Does anyone think that the pump has anything to do with the stalling? Any thoughts? Also, I pumped the stepper lever about 10 to 20 times each time... should I have kept pumping? Do any of the regular suppliers like RoversNorth stock a manual fuel pump for a '94 200tdi?

Pardon my ignorance, but who is George and how can I get in touch with him to order a fuel pump?
