200 tdi exhaust bends

I will be most likely putting a stainless exhaust on my 200 tdi 110. Is it necessary or beneficial to "tune" the exhaust for maximum performance, or does it not matter for a motor like this? also what is the optimum pipe diameter for this motor"

Why? Have they started salting the roads in NorCal? I could see the value if you lived in the NE (or the UK, where plastic rusts), but the west coast isn't hard on exhausts. Save the money for something useful, like sound insulation.

If you have new exhaust built, go to at least 2.5 inch all the way, and don't buy a muffler intended for a petrol engine, they have too much baffling. The stock exhaust reduces from roughly 2.5" at the downpipe to 2" at the tailpipe.
