2 questions for ya

hey gang!

my d-90 is a blast! so many people stop to inquire and give me the thumbs-up.
it's really fun......didn't realize how much fun it'd be..

anyhow, i need to do a few things and would appreciate some input...

1) i want to go a bit larger on the tires....for better grip and handling.....i want to keep the stock rims though.....and not sacrifice too much on gas mileage....any size recommendations????

2) i want to install an alarm......is there a way to install automatic door locks with the alarm???

3) since i just bought the car from seattle, WA....i need to have it smogged for CA.....with the "SERVICE ENGINE" light on.....will it pass smog????? Is it dangerous to drive with that RED service engine light on??

4) anyone have pics of a nice GPS install???

thanks a bunch, fellas....

-dan

are you sure you want an alarm? more recent defenders have pdl's but instead of an alarm, you might want to get something that is actually effective, such as the MechLock at www.mudstuff.co.uk.

well, if you DO put in an alarm/imobilizer, I'd suggest two things: 1. Don't set up the damn thing so it automatically sets when you get out of the truck on the trail, and 2. If you lockout the ignition, take the key with you so some dude doesn't drive your truck when you're helping someone else get out of a hole at the bottom of the hill...

1. Do a search on here... tons of ideas re tires, size, lift, etc
2. I don't think you can do locks if you have a ST, but I recall some post a while back for SW.
3. No idea
4. Mount the GPS (presume it's one of Garmins) to the dash next to the ashtray. They sell a dash mount with adhesive tape that works just fine.

...ok, only one REAL answer
