2.8 Power Stroke A/C setup

Anyone have a pic or 2 of the compressor setup on a 2.8 powerstroke? Seems like a standard 300tdi compressor does nor bold right up to the engine without hitting the injector pump..

I bet you could twist IP internals and drill the pre-marked holes on the oil pump body to make the IP fit sideways like on 300tdis do. I guess you should get 300tdis Inyectors piping though, and fill the now not used 3 holes to make everything water tight.

Im not sure if it could be done, Im just throwing ideas but I did something similar. I used a 2.8 Powerstroke IP on my 300tdi and positioned it sideways like the old 300tdi IP goes. Previously I took it to a IP specialist and they twisted the internals to be able to be positioned like the 300tdis one. The good thing is that I didnt have to change any piping.

The injection pump on 300Tdi is rotated and thats why on your engine the compressor hits the pump.
I fitted some adjuster to put the compressor a little higher, this also results in fitting a longer belt.
I have some adjuster left if you are interested. Try to post some pictures tomorrow or so.

Randy, what pic do you need? of the mount itself or the IP?

Randy, here you go. I think the 300tdi compressor mount works ok as it is pretty thick. It is what I used on Mr Marchands rig (forgot I had pics of that).
The current 2.8 install has been on hold for a couple of weeks, but if I can remember to fiddle with it I can check the fit.

I'm in CT until Tuesday, but can take a pic of my setup if still needed. I fly out again Tuesday night, so let me know.

attached some pictures of the compressor on the 2.8.

There are different compressors but as far as I know all of them have the same problem on a 2.8

The compressor I installed on MR Marchands rig worked without issue as is the same compressor going on the current install. Rear hose, vertical mounting bolts, uses factory compressor mount. I'll look for part #

The compressor Johan has pictured is the same as the V8. Has horizontale montings. Can be fit but needs to be spaced up and comes very close to bonnet underside. Has the monts that M&D used to sell for V8 to 2.8 diesel conversion.

Matt, M&D got back to me. They have a specific mount for the newer 300tdi style (side exit Hose) compressor like the one in my picture. The kit comes with the longer belt as well... $65. I guess its not worth fiddling with.

I'd say that's the ticket then eh? Haven't had to mess with one of the newer compressors yet. Still have a couple of kits left with the older compressor.
