2.5na oil capacity and dipstick depth

How much oil are folks using for 2.5na's and the related question; how can I tel if my dipstick tube has slipped down?

Owners manual specs 6.7 ltrs w/ filter change, w/ the 'follow the dipstick' caveat. ~6 qts on mine is 1" above the Hi notch on the dipstick, in the DANGER area.

I understand that the dipstick tubes can loosen and slip deeper into the block. Is there a height spec or detailed instructions for seating it? Didn't see any specific details in my manuals or online, but did find a few references to the tubes slipping.

thanks....

Message ranewman. He has forgotten more about 2.5NA motors than most people know about them. If anybody will know, he will.

Rick is New Orleans for his 10th anniversary so it may be a few days before he responds.

After some reading and worrying, it looks like I might need to check and make sure my dipstick tube isn't too low too.

Thanks! Appreciate the help.

So, once I get a 20 or 21mm stubby or crowfoot, sounds like you just loosen the compression fitting and pull up?

Check your olives

finally got to pulling the dipstick tube and the olive had moved up the tube by 1.25" per the witness marks from the original location. I measured the difference to where the olive should be and filled to there, ~2quarts. So now I am up to ~6.5 quarts which is still low per the manual, but proper per the dipsitck.

Tried to get the olive to move back down, but no luck and I d/n want to damage the tube without a replacement. Going for a new tube from Trevor. Thanks all.
