2.5 V8 Air Con

I will be taking posession of a RHD 2.4 V8 D90 soon and one of the accessories I would like to fit is A/C. Has anyone done this or can provide advice on what I need? An A/C will be fine it doesn't have to be Land Rover.

TIA

You must be mistaken and are referring to the 3.5 liter V8.

I have heard of a LR 2.5 4 cylinder, a LR 3.5 V8 but never a 2.5 V8.

I was wondering if you meant this:

In that case you could piece one together using one of the many treads already posted OR order one from Zack at Rovers North or from Safari HP.

Your title, and your first post both listed the wrong engine! LOL.

BUT! A good question to ask is what type of dash do you have? I don't think they ever put the Saudi style dash in D90's, but I could be wrong. Does your dash have the open pocket across the center, or is it flat, grey, dumb plastic, with traditional vent louvers in it?

At this stage I am more concerned with what components I would need to produce the cold air, I will sort out venting into the cabin once I have solved that issue.

The only air conditioning kit I can find for RHD is supplied by Britpart. It looks like the Elite brand ones Rovers North sells. It's for a Td5, but I don't see why you couldn't adapt it. You'll probably just need the correct bracket for the compressor. The kit is part number DA2342R. It's about $2600 plus shipping from Land Rover Parts and Spares Direct.

I know someone who has a GM kit that fits under the dash. You can hardly tell the difference between it and the Rover one... except it works.

Any chance you can find out what it was and where he got it from? I know the 3.5 V8 was based on a Buick engine so I am confident that I can get something that will work from here in the US much cheaper than the Rover ones.
