1997 NAS Defender 90 LE

I recently purchased a 1997 NAS Defender 90 LE (Willow Green) and am having trouble getting the original specs/options/accessories off the Land Rover site.

Do any of you know what came "stock" when they were released?

I want to restore it back to its original state, as the previous owner(s) made several modifications. Many of the ones I've seen online are slightly different (roof rack, front lamps, snorkel, etc.).

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Jason

ECR has some information. I think they all had the SD rack and ladder. The paint color and diamond plate are the only other differences from other '97s, I think. Personally, I hate the diamond plate, and I think it has no place on a rover, in spite of "originality" in this particular case.

The last Defender offering from the Land-Rover dealers was the Limited Edition Defender Station Wagon. 300 Special Edition 1997 Wagons with special paint (again, one color only: Willow Green) and bolt on "body protection" in the form of large 5 bar diamond plate sheets have now come and gone through the dealers.

What badge number did you get? I have had 3 Willow Green D90s...just wondering if it might have been one I had in the past.

Dave is right, it was just a few dress up items and a special color. The basics:

Willow Green
Safety Devices roof rack
A bar
Running boards (w/ diamond plate)
Diamond plate on:
Rear step
Rack ladder treads
Rear 1/4s
Sills
Wing top guards
Special # plate X/300

Thanks for the info. This all helps. I have #222, and will start getting it back into its original shape soon.

Best,

Jason

I am not crazy about diamond plate either - but I can live with it on my LE simply because of the "originality".

Jason, welcome to the Board. You should have no trouble selling the non-stock items here.

LE Headlamps?

All,

Again thanks. One of my questions involves the additional headlamps in the middle seen on the attached image. I've seen them with AND without, and was wondering how they left the factory?

Does yours have them? If so, leave them. They were definitely a dealer added item. I don't think the lights came out of the factory, but the A-bar probably did. I would consider this a factory add on though. I think most of them came over pretty bone stock, but if you added official Land Rover accessories at the dealer then I think most die hard Rover guys would accept these things as factory.

Mine doesn't have the additional lamps, but it does have a snorkel, which I DON'T believe was stock. Here's a shot of #222 ...

The snorkel is not stock, but it is a good one. If you don't want it, I do. Are those side steps a single tube or double tube? Factory would be double tube type, I think. I can't tell from your picture.
Factory tires would be BFG all terrain 265's. Other than that the outside looks right.
What's inside?

Yeah, I would say that looks pretty close to stock except the snorkel (which I would keep on there if I were you, sorry shawn) and the side steps. Factory side steps hang a little lower and, as shawn said, are double tubed. Nice truck!

The guys are right. From the picture the non-stock items are:

Tires: would be 265/75 BFG ATs
The flooring in the roof rack
The snorkel
Those running boards (it had running boards stock, but a different type)
The front skid plate

The lights were dealer added. A lot of them got 4x Hella 3000s across the top and some got smaller lights behind the A bar, but "stock" was no lights.

Certainly not saying you should remove any of those items, but since you asked what "stock was".

Be happy your LE doesn't look like the LE we just got in from IL!

What everyone one else said about the non-stock bits including the center belly skid plate also. Not stock. I had an LE they are great. My personal favorite of the SW's. The running boards in the ECR photo of the wrecked LE are the correct ones.
