1997 / Heat Shield???

Okay, I'm a doofus...

I've had the engine (plain old NAS V8) out of the 97 for too long.

Everything is back where its supposed to be, and I've got an extra aluminum heat shield that I think belongs on the (LH) drivers side.

My problem is ... well, the one I'm willing to discuss here ... where in blazes does this thing go?

It's made like the starter shield...bendy aluminum...and looks like it should keep exhaust heat away from the motor mount.

Its not shown in the FSM.

Thanks,

KAA

There is usually two. One at the starter and one on the driver's side shielding the motor mount/steering shaft. This is based on my limited knowledge of V8's in a RRC though.

Sorry Josh, no photos...that would be, like..."smart".

The starter shield is in place...after the appropriate amount of vocabulary exercise.

Just talked to the guy who helped me pop the motor out (he's outta town) and confirmed that's where it came from. Thanks Mark.

Thanks,

Keith

Dagnabbitt, I still cant find a place for this thing.

Here...I actually took a (lousy) photo last night.

What am I missing...I don't see this in the FSM and I don't see a reference to it on line anywhere under "defender heat shield"???

- - -

Progress...at least I know what to call it.

It's old P/N is ERR5795 and it's new number is KKJ100110

It's a GEMS part, so it's likely only on the 1997's

Thanks to Mr. P, we know its really a knock sensor shield

It's the driver side motor mount heat shield.

IIRC one of the bolts for the motor mount bracket hold it in as well as a small bolt that holds it to the motor mount bracket.

Something is going on with your posts on the D90 app. They're coming up blank in a few threads.

Can't tell you why. I'm on the "surface" thing at home.
