1997 defender and discovery same wiring harness??

Well like the title says. any chance a 1997 discovery has the same wiring harness as a defener or pretty damn close?

the wiring in the area of the heater box on rh side is burnt, includes ecu, blower motor, radio, interior illumination.

I thought I remember someone saying a discovery had same wiring harness.

I need one connector, and basically just same colored wiring so it looks as good as possible.

Jason, which wiring harness exactly? I assume you already checked with George (RDS)...

Unhappy

i checked with every normal source. I cant afford 1000 bucks for a new one.

ths harness is the main one that runs from middle of bulk head toward the right wing.

the actually harness goes over top of heater. there are several plugs, run blower motor, rear power, ecu, and a few other things. I have checked every where and had no luck.

some one mentioned a early 1996 or 97 discovery would have the same but there are none in my area. I have called several junk yards and they have not had the right harness. i just need one connector really, and the right color wires.

How about RoverLand? They should be able to tell you.

How about one of these places? Maybe you can find the right connector and put in the color wires you want. Otherwise, you might try a dealership. They may be able to either order just a replacement connector or you might be able to offer a tech a few bucks for a takeoff. Those guys usually cut all the connectors off any scrap harnesses and save them. If one of them has some he may be able to find you an identical one that he'll give you for a few beers or something.

But we still haven't determined if they are the same.

Maybe if you can better describe the connector you need and what the wire colors are, someone can help. Can you park next to another D90 and compare? Any pictures of the damaged harness or is it too damaged?

Ditto, give us a little more details and we can see how we can help. I never had to answer that question. But I have a 1996 Disco (manual transmission unfortunately for you) I can look at. Not sure if my 1995 D90 will have a similar wiring harness than your 1997 D90. I guess it will be close, but different.

On paper (i.e. workshop manuals), how do each harness compare? Worst case scenario, it is probably worth it to replace the harness but a custom made one and your own connectors (that'd be much cheaper but probably more time).

hey guys thanx for the replies.

I was recently told that they are NOT the same and cant be used.

So instead of spending 1000 bucks for a new one, I bought a bunch of wire and cut it all out and spliced it in.

then i just went to tractor supply and bought the flat pin connectors they have.

soldered it all together and no its good as new.

only weird thing is my blower motor no longer works.

i didnt even touch those wires, and there is power to both sides of the connector. all fuses are good but blower wont go

I am begining to hate this truck.
