1997 d90 Service Light at 130000 km

Hello people;

The World Famous Service Light has come on for the first time. Sigh. Everything seems to be running smoothly however.
Question. If this is a mere service reminder, can it be reset via the code reading computer when plugged in? The other option I understand is to physically reset the little brown module behind the fuse box. But that's a royal pain in a 97 with an automatic and AC paraphanalia in the way.

Thanks for your thoughts.

It only takes a few minutes to remove the console to get the relay out. At that point I would just throw it in the garbage where it belongs. Is it the red or amber warning light?

Yup. It's the red one. So removing the console isn't that big a deal? And...it cannot be "reset" through the diagnotic computer?

No, you have to either push the pin inside down or just remove it all together. To remove the console there are two screws on the front sides, and three bolts under the cubby, then just unplug the radio. You will have to remove the shifter surround, but not the shifter.

Thanks people. Whoever designed this should have to dismantle everything and reset the module 25 times a day. Sheesh!
