1995 D90 Pre-purchase question

Hey everyone - I'd love your opinion on this. I'm trying to convince my wife to grant me permission to buy a D-90. She looooves a good deal, so i think i can get her blessing if I can prove that a 1995 vehicle is worth a premium and a smoking deal.

I'm looking at a green 1995 SW that is bone stock, with no A/C. 140K miles and seems to have been pampered with maintenance by the lady owning it. The seller's walk-away price is $21.5K. Given the high miles, no additional add-ons, nor A/C, do you think this is a good price?

I've looked at ebay, craigslist, and this forum, and there seems to be a rather large range on these D-90's.

Also, any worry out there that as the 25 year mark approaches and US customs allow D-90 imports that the price will plummet?

Have you checked all of the usual rust areas? How are the PS hoses, compression, bushings... If it's in reasonably good shape, that's an ok price.

Legit NAS defenders are a totally separate market to imports ...

Rust is the big worry ... A pretty truck can hide some serious nasties ... Footwells, out riggers, rear cross members should be well checked..AC can be added later if you need it. If you can get a local board member to help you inspect it ..

The mileage on the truck hurts the price but if it isn't rusty it may be a good deal. A smoking deal would be in the teens.

It is a smokin deal!!!!! jump on it!!!!
Just forward her my response only and say everyone agrees. If it is a clean truck and you plan to keep it for a while a few dollars won or lost will be forgotten.

Paid $20 for a 260K truck that was pampered. I was the fool that blew the motor. Since your up in the land of the rain gods, I would really focus on any rest in the bulkhead and footwell area. Has the truck always been in the NW from a Title search or did it spend time back east? I think it is a good deal. Take it through a car wash with the top on and see where it leaks before you buy as if it shoots water where the wife sits you WILL never hear the end of it! O...and if you want to keep her warm in the winter, look for a drop curtain which will help the cab stay warm and thus less nagging as well.

Those are my wife's 2 biggest complaints: water and heating. I also get regular mentions of height (she is just over 5').
