1989 Ninety Pickup Original MSRP

Good Day All.

Getting ready to register my newly imported '89 Ninety pickup for the first time. Both my insurance carrier and my town office require an original MSRP. I put the google to it but I only get MSRPs for NAS Defenders. Anyone out there have any idea on original MSRP in the UK?

make something up.

If you can't find it how are they going to check it?

Use the NAS Value for insurance, and $1000 for the state

You can see if British Motor Industry Heritage Trust has it. I got a letter from them stating place and year of manufacture for my imported RHD 1986 Ninety, which I had to have to title and register it in my state (and federal laws support a historical society letter as proof). They have access to your vehicle's specific records based in VIN and engine numbers, if you want to dig that deep (I did and ordered a record and technical specification for my Landy). Not positive they have original MSRP, but they could probably point you in the right direction. They have a web page.

Heritage motors will give you an email reply based on Web research for GBP 6. It'll be based on Autocar Magazine Published prices for that car. You'll need to give them the VIN of your LR. I don't yet know if they'll accept this at my town office who last year charged me for the same year range rover due to a lack of anything else (1988) which I would expect was significantly more expensive then a basic 1988 ST LR90. I tried to find the Autocar magazine online but couldn't tell which edition to buy a used copy, and didn't find a soft copy available going back that far. I'd be curious if anyone else has tried and how else they may have addressed the excise tax issue. Likely a state by state issue as well.

Scroll down to Web Research Request.

Thanks for the info guys. It certainly is a state by state issue. Maine is pretty laxed as far as title requirements for 25+ vehicles but they want the sales tax and every bit of excise tax that they can get. Not really sure how much of a PITA my town office is going to be but figured I'd try to get all my ducks in a row.

I'm originally a Mainer (Gorham), but now in TN where all they required was a bill of sale for what I paid (considerably more than the original MSRP). That's OK here since all I had to pay was sales tax (there's no excise, highway, or other personal property tax here on vehicles). I still had to sit with the elected county representative to get it titled and registered, with all my homework printed out (DOT laws and regulations plus the State of TN requirements I printed from their website) with the documents checked back to the requirements--I walked her through them. At the local office, those ladies wouldn't even look at me because a title and registration had never been issued in the USA. Anyway, I hope it's easy for you up there.

Once a Mainah always a Mainah Susan! I hope you're right and everything goes smooth. I'll report back.

I would try to track down a price from the leads above... if not I bet they base the excise on an 89 RRC. I paid $171 this year on my 88 RRC.

What Kevin said... they will most likely find the only "rover" in the book for that year and there you go.. rest assured the msrp for a range rover was higher so they wont be complaining.
