1986 110 Assembly (NC shop recommendation)

Looking for a shop preferably in Wilmington, Jacksonville or Morehead city area that can reassemble a 110. The following link towards the bottom shows its current condition: Gallery | Urban Land Cruisers + Land Rovers
The Initial plan was to ship it to the house but since it doesn't brake or steer and my driveway is on an incline transporters are having an issue. I'd rather find a place that can put it together and ship it there so once assembled I can register it. That situation is still sketchy too so taking a trip this week to check the vehicle & paperwork. Hopefully I don't have to sell it as a parts vehicle.
It needs the bulkhead, motor, basically the whole front end reinstalled. The motor should be a 200tdi. Hoping to get some quotes so I can figure out what to do next. I've reached out to Blue Ridge Rover Works in Ashville, waiting to hear back, a little out of the area but shouldn't be a bad drive. Open to decent shops In VA too.
Cost at this point will determine if it ends Up for sale if anyone wants it.
Thanks for any aassistance in advance,
Ceyon

Mods:If this is in the wrong section please move accordingly.

There are some good shops but not in Wilmington I don't think.

Orlando Safari HP If you want NC Rovertrader here or the place in Ashville. But what ever you do move it out if that Chapter 11 place in Atlanta.

So surprising that you didn't take action after your last thread on this vehicle and shop: http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...ice-59254.html

Call Luke at The Shop in Norcross, GA. He has done a couple of Defenders and I think he has helped a few other people in the same circumstances.

The Shop | Norcross Auto Repair

They've also worked on my 109 a lot. Only shop I trust (not saying there aren't other good shops out there, just saying I've had a couple of bad ones and stopped once I found a good one).

Thanks everyone, I've been PM'ing, calling and e-mailing most of the day. I need to get answers concerning parts and registration before going forward so at the very Ieast I now know what to ask for and get from the original vendor before comitting resources to picking up the vehicle and sending it to a shop.

It really depends upon the level of re-construction your after and your budget. If you are shipping it you have a lot of options. Can you rent a truck, if you do not have one, and a trailer and get it yourself. A portable hand winch will get it onto the trailer.

I would go to the shop with a couple other DSource friends and take inventory of what you have so you can make a decision whether this is a salvageable situation. I can't imagine this being something you can rectify, economically speaking, by paying a professional to do it. Most shops have waiting lines for work to be done and if they don't they have to make up for that and aren't the shop you want to be getting close to. IMO.

I think Ceyon has the correct path forward. From our pm's he's said he was told some story that the truck was initially denied entry and then came back in with no engine. In my experience, Customs will treat a rolling chassis with out an engine as an assemblage of parts (brought several in that way by design as restoration parts donors) and you don't get the epa waiver you need to title the truck and the HS7 and 7501 wont list the VIN. Until he gets some paper work, or we can back track and find the broker that handled the entry to get some answers, putting the truck back together, would be putting the cart before the horse. His budget is extremely limited so if the paper work pans out, maybe a bunch of members here could come together and spend a weekend on this one like happened for Kent.

Looks like I've been on a fools errand. The chances of registering the vehicle are slim considering the import paperwork. We've had a board member who specializes in imports review th paperwork and while there is a chance I'd rather not have to wonder if governing entities will sieze it years after the fact.

To answer an earlier question I was part of the bankruptcy hearing so I'm supposed to get regular payments until the court ordered amount is paid. If the vehicle was salvage able I would have been satisfied with that, but as it stands we'll take our chances with getting the money. We recouped what we could through PayPal but the bulk was paid directly on cards we paid off promptly. I have unecessary debt.
During thes past 3-years I've lost a job as the government contract was not renewed, had a baby at the same time then got a new job paying much less but just enough to make ends meet. We still feel blessed. The house did not go into forclosure, the family is fed and the kids haven't noticed much. The vehicle was a friction point in the marriage until this morning. I think not knowing if the vehicle could be registered or not was the worst part. Now we know it makes things easier.
Thanks everyone for the recommendations, assistance and offers. Time will tell if all the payments are made but right now we're going to move forward with life in general. Still love Land Rovers (maybe not freelanders or Evokes) so I'm sure we'll get another Rover someday. I'll keep lurking here though until funds permit a purchase.
