1984 ROW Steering Rod Couplings

I need the upper and lower steering rod couplings (universal joints) for my steering rod on my 1984 ROW, rhd d-90. I have emailed Trevor at Rovahfarm and Les at Roversnorth. Anyone have any other idea for sources or have part #s. I have seen several couplings with part #s, but no reference for years or models covered.
Thanks

These are called tie rod ends. They are right or left hand thread. Each truck needs three total. Not aware of differences through the years, thought they are universal. How man lefts or rights you need is determined by right or left hand drive. Any supplier should be able to help you out.

Since you are in NY why not check with Eric @ AB or Justin @ Lucky 8

If your talking NRC7704 I believe I have a handful. If they fit in a small flat rate box I will send you a couple of $20. They are new old stock, no box and I don't believe they have bolts.

Ah, never seen those knackered. I have been installing the later aluminum shaft and joints when I convert one to lhd.

Sorry Doug, yes, I do mean steering shaft joints or universals / couplings. And, Chris, I PM'd you. Thanks again.

Chris-
The references I've found for NRC7704 seem to indicate applications for model years 1987-94. I don't know if it will fit an '84 ROW, rhd d-90. Does anyone else know if this part # will fit. Also, is it the same for the upper and lower joint?

The steering shaft is standard issue 3/4 x 48. Thats for the shaft, the steering box the u joints, and anything that has to do with the twisty bits between the steering wheel and the box. Same as V Dub. There are literally hundreds of options from cheap plain steel Chinese to anodized aluminum to billet to chrome to....
Only limit is your imagination. The "Rover" ones are above average quality, but not as good as some. Some have replaceable u joints with grease fittings. Some are mil spec and fully sealed.

Yah, pretend that you are building a sand rail instead of a Rover and do a search for VW steering. Overwhelming.

the RRC and Disco 1 aluminum shafts and joints are an upgrade and because they come with a heat sheild over them usually are in fine nick used. The billet aluminum look is mo betta under the hood.
