1984 Defender Front Brakes

I am having a hell of a time locating front brake calipers for my early 110 - AEU2538, AEU2537. Is it possible to fit calipers and rotors from a later model Defender with parts readily available her in the US/Canada?

Thanks in advance,
Henry

Trevor at Rovahfarm has them:

Rovers North has them too, in both Genuine and aftermarket.

And yes, you can also convert the front brakes to the later vented type if you wish. I did this to mine. You'll need new calipers and discs, but everything will bolt right up.

Disco Front Brakes anyone...

I worked on a 1986 90" last month that had Disco I Front Brakes.
Since it was changed over to LHD, looked like the whole front assembly had been swapped out.
They worked fine, just initially confused me when replacing the pads...

Mike installed late 90/110 front disks on my 1984 truck and the stopping is absolutely awesome.

To change to vented rotors, you need the spacers from a set of Range Rover Classic calipers, along with the rubber seals and the bolts that hold the caliper halves together. You don't need new calipers. Just unbolt the halves, install the spacers and bleed. Badda bing.
You can use ones from the ugliest rustiest set of calipers that you've ever seen. Just plop the spacers in some rust-solve overnight and they will look like new parts.

Will spacers from D1 calipers work?

If you're going to install spacers for vented, be sure to check your current calipers pistons. If they've been on a truck with worn rotors and pads, the pistons are really extended and sometimes the surface of the piston will rust up enough that they won't slide back into the bore or might destroy the seals.

That was the case with my truck. Mine is 23 years old and had sat for a couple years.

I bought new calipers for a disco 1 non vented at the local napa here jn canada for $100 each and put them on the front of my rhd 90 since I had brand new non vented rotors already.

Henry, I recently bought the same calipers for my 110 from Rovers north. Their part numbers (Proline) are PLL943 and PLL942 and are $129 each. These use the split pin retainers, p/n PLH320. Had a hell of a time finding the correct pads and after two tries, PLI512 were correct.
