1983 110 Required Reading (?)

So what are the best manuals/books for a 1983 110 with a 200tdi?

I've got on order:

Land Rover Defender Restoration Manual (Restoration Manuals) - (Haynes)

Land Rover 90 & 110 Owner Manual (Official Handbooks) - Brooklands Books Ltd;

Land Rover 90, 110 and Defender Diesel Service and Repair Manual: 1983 to 2007 (Haynes)

Land Rover 90-110 Defender WSM 1983 (Workshop Manual Land Rover) - Brooklands Books Ltd

Any recommendations?

Thanks

You can get most of the information you need on the web however I like to have a hard copy of the LR Repair manual. You can get one for the Defender with the 200 Tdi. It will go over all the body, suspension, electrical and engine.

Manual for 2.5 NA MOD

I can't seem to start another thread on this topic, so posting here instead. I've scoured the web, and can't find decent workshop and parts manuals for my 1984 110 with MOD 2.5 NA (Turner head). The available PDFs are missing a lot of material. A simple example is that none of the manuals I've seen cover the throttle linkage, except for the hand throttle. Haven's seen the Haynes or Brookland ones first hand. Are these any better than the widely available 90/110 PDFs?

Stuff not covered in manuals

My posts keep disappearing, but what I'm trying to get across is that NONE of the parts or service manuals I've seen cover the particular thing I am trying to fix right now. In this case, it is the throttle linkage (not the hand throttle), but it's probably not the only missing detail. Anyone seen that in a manual? I can fix stuff without manuals, but it's definitely more time consuming, especially when trying to identify part numbers.

Give us an example. I can check the green bible and scan the page to show you what it has

Haynes manuals are too general and are vague, they say things such as dissemble engine and reassembly is the reverse, well, great, how about actually detailing what is needed to pull the motor apart properly?

Haven't got any hard copy of any manuals now, all my Land Rover manuals are freely available off the web, RAVE manual is worth getting as are the actual Land Rover ones, they are all free.

For some reason though, the early Haynes manual covering the Range Rover classic is quite detailed but the only engine covered is the 3.5 V8 on carbs, but the rest of the mechanicals are the same or very similar to that of a Defender.

One example is the bracket for the throttle cable on the 2.5NA. The bracket is at the base of the vacuum pump. One issue with the manuals is that I can't tell which ones people are referring to. For example, what is contained in LHP26? Should I buy it, or is it the same as what I already have? Here is what I have, and none of these seems to contain the correct bracket (BTW, no vacuum pump either):

1. Parts Catalogue Land Rover One Ten 1987 Model Year
2. Military supplement for Land Rover 110 2 1/2 Dielsel 12v~12/24volt (September 1986)
3. RAVE (the workshop manuals seem to only cover V8)
4. Workshop Manual Ninety One Ten (SLR621ENWM), Five Book Sections
5. Land Rover 2, 2A, 3 (“Green Bible” 1959-1978)
6. Land Rover Series III (7 parts, Does not cover the 2.5).

Is the LHP26 manual what I need? Can anyone tell me if it is different from the above, or whether they have something that shows the bracket and/or pump, just as a test for completeness?

Sorry it turns out the parts catalogs I have are for the defender, and my green bible only covers 2 and 2A (and doesn't have part numbers).

Try searching on Guns and Rovers. I know there are a bunch of series /diesel guys over there that might have the info you are looking for.....worth a shot.
